This is just bugging me. You may not find this that interesting. Just cant tell what's up with this mint mark.

Sorry if pictures aren't that great. In case it's hard to see it, it's like a blob on top of a damaged mint mark?

It looks like a "D" that the post had broken off the die (that normally forms the center of the mint mark) and it is now starting a die chip under the mint mark.

It's probably a D. There is no MM for Philidelphia and there is an S MM for the proof coins. The proof coins have a different rim with a more squared-off appearance. So, it's a probably a D.

It can only be a D, P mintmarks were not used on business strikes until 1980 with the exception of 1942-45 War Nickels and the 1979 SBA dollar.

Oh, makes sense. Glad I asked. just starting to look at Quarters, so everything looks weird.
