I'd go vf-20 on this one.

Thanks for the opinions on grade.
The F-15 grades surprised me as the individual I bought this from had it graded XF. I paid VF money for it and all along felt it was a solid VF. I was wanting validation that it definitley was not XF.
Looks like I got it.

For me the leaves in the hair need a bit more outline for the VF grade. I must admit that this is yet another series I don't specialize in so I might be a bit too conservative here.

The ribbon would have to be seperated from the hair at a minimum to qualify for XF. also the corn kernals would be more defined on the reverse.

A nice VF coin, but not an EF. Too much wear to get to the higher grade IMO. As others noted, the leaves in the crown and the corn on the reverse both lead to the lower grade, while a complete Liberty is a good indicator of better than merely Fine.
The yellowish areas on the obverse diminish eye appeal, however. I hope they are less obvious with the coin in hand. If too noticeable, they could drive the price toward the lower end for the grade.
I don't know how others on the forum feel, but I find getting nice examples of Barbers, in any denomination, in the VF to EX category is really tough. The vast majority of coins are worn thin, or are AU or higher. Tough for people like me who want nice examples but aren't able (or willing) to pay higher prices for the UNC's! Every time you can snag one of these coins for a fair price in VF to XF, I'd say to go for it.

hunter20ga, I agree whole heartedly with your comments regarding VF to XF Barber coinage. They definitley can be a challenge to get in VF and XF. Especially if they are a better date or key date. The yellow spots are not as detracting in hand as they are in the photos. While digital photos are great they definitely don't hide anything. Quite frankly though in my opinion the reverse is what makes this coin.

This one easily makes the Vf-20 for me, nice details and no edge damage or other major scratches or digs.
