Quote: ROY — Survelliance video posted to the Facebook page for WBY Outfitters shows two people in hoodies burglarizing the antique store early Saturday.
Store owners say graded silver coins were taken, according to a comment on the video.
As of Monday morning, the video had been viewed over 4,000 times.
$10,000 in coins is a rather large inventory for an antique mall display case in my opinion. Probably not the most secure set up either.
This little "smash and grab" could have been avoided with some very simple security measures...
If you own a store perhaps a few pieces of advice...
1) After close take big ticket items and those that can easily be liquidated and put them either into a safe or an alternate location...
2) Security alarm
3) Smoke machine that's hooked up to an alarm... When the alarm sounds the room fills with smoke within seconds... thief can't see 2 inches infront of them.. room won't clear until cops show up 1 hr later...

That's spectacular. I'm in a noisy place so can't hear the audio; I wonder if there's any clean-up associated with it or if it just "goes away" like special effects smoke.
It's pretty much like special effects smoke... it will dissipate but it for most applications it usually takes a minimum of 10-15 minutes before a room can be operational again.
Installations can vary. You'll see at one point in the video it's set up to shoot right down on the cash register... that's intentional! But the application is very easy to wall mount and that's a very common way to use this set up.
Quote: In late February, there was a similar crime at a Roy City antique store. A coin collection valued at over ten thousand dollars was taken.
"There's no doubt, we're pretty certain it's the same people," said Lorie Young owner of WBY Outfitters. "(It's the) same M.O. (method of operation), the same build. They went for the most expensive stuff."
Update. Looks like the thieves are still at large.
