I was browsing the Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) forum and saw there was a thread titled "Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman" and decided to see what the thread was about. Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman is a book by Leonard Augsburger, Roger Burdette and Joel Orosz. The write-up in the description sums it up better than I ever could Quote: Researched, written and edited by titans in the numismatic field, Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman, is an expansive biography. The book comprises 400+ pages of memorable stories suffused with fascinating illustrations and documents, all chronicling the admirable life of Newman, now 104 years young. In 43 chapters, Truth Seeker traces Newman's world-class collection from its inspiration - when his grandfather gave him an 1859 Indian head copper-nickel cent - to explaining the theory behind Newman's favorite coin. The history and content of his renowned and unparalleled collection, which he donated to charitable causes, would alone have been more than enough to fill the pages. Yet this work also profiles those who influenced him, both allies and adversaries, alongside the intellect, ethics, drive, and eternal optimism of a highly accomplished philanthropist who led his beloved hobby out of its own dark ages. It's for sale here http://coins.ha.com/itm/books/other...tion-071515#

Quote: It's part of my library - an interesting read. Definitely worth the purchase price! Good to hear, Mark Borckhardt of Heritage told me about it, (he is a good friend of Eric Newman) before it was out, and I forgot all about it. Ordering in the morning. Thanks Meadowview for the reminder!

Called Mark @ Heritage to see if they had any hardbound copies left, he said they did and I asked him to get me one, unfortunately, they did not have any he could sell me, apparently there was a problem with the binding, and there are only a few copies, which are only for use in their own book room, so I couldn't get one. Mark did bring a softbound copy and dropped it off to me on his way home, now just gotta start reading it! Looks like a great book, with very nice color photos.

When I saw Mark I asked him how Eric was doing, he told me excellent, Eric is in good health, no issues and still sharp as a tack, he will be 105 years old next month!

I've been meaning to respond to this post for weeks...
I was fortunate enough to secure one of the hand-signed, hardbound copies of the book earlier in the year; my copy is listed as "80 of 250."
It really is quite an interesting book. Mr. Newman's involvement and contributions to our hobby are quite impressive! I would recommend the book without reservation.

Kind of an old thread to bump but figured it was the right one to post in. I'm a Legacy member at Heritage and every once in a while they like to send me free goodies. Today when I got home I received a softback copy of this book. The thing is they actually sent me 2 by mistake. If anyone's interested in my extra copy shoot me a message. If I get more than one message in the next day or so I'll draw straws or something. I'll send it for free.
