Plumbers find $50,000 gold bar stored under bathtub
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/0...ntcmp=hplnws

Quote:
Two Calgary plumbers in mid-February, who were in the process of renovating a bathroom, uncovered a gold bar worth more than $50,000 after tearing up a bathtub, the CBC reports.

"Who stores gold bars underneath their tub, right? Kinda crazy," said Alif Babul, who added that he had never seen anything like it in his 12 years on the job.

The one-kilogram bar, stamped by a jeweler, was returned to the owners of the house.

Very honest plumbers. I wonder what percentage of contractors would do they same? I've actually heard of some bullion stackers using this hiding spot before. Seems like a clever spot, if you can remember where you stashed your items that is.
Rest in Peace

My husband did some bath tub pipe repairs years ago. All he found were magazines. Not going into any more detail about that!

I wanted to pull up the floor and see what else was there. Maybe someday --- that floor can't last forever.

How do you lose track of a gold bar? I make fun of people that lose track of their car keys, and they get moved every day. Maybe hidden while under the influence.

I understand stashing away a silver coin or something neat like that, but a kilo gold bar? I agree with the plumber; crazy!

And for them to return it to the owner! That in itself should be a story. Not many people would do that these days.

Who knows if it even belonged to the owners of the house currently? If they bought the house it could have been there from before and belong to the previous owner.......which is what I believe since you just dont forget about a gold bar you placed under a tub in a bathroom you probably renovated yourself......then why would you renovate it again but this time call plumbers?
