When I check the foreign silver boxes at my LCS and see
some interesting coins, I feel compelled to purchase some.

I am curious how many other members do the same thing.

Here are a few I picked up today.

Sometimes I even find some for my type sets.

Today pickups included three 1960 10 Peso silver Mexico
coins. One filled a empty hole

(reverse of 1960 10 Peso)

The rest are going into another project I am doing.
I want to fill a small box with foreign silver coins.

I have been searching dealers' junk boxes for junk silver for perhaps 30 years or so.

I do not buy unless below melt, therefore my junk silver stash / collection grows only very slowly. I employ this strategy to collect World silver coins, reason being that my spending on World silver is always kept under strict control.

I do this every week at my lcs. I can buy them for spot price, so it is super hard to not buy the whole box sometimes. I definitely keep a look out for ones that are for my type sets but don't see too many of them. Mostly I just buy the US junk silver for resale though. Every once in a while I find something I definitely like though!

I have been doing that for decades, although rather more slowly now since it is harder to find new stuff.

Sel_69l, I will pay more than melt if the item is interesting, scarce and/or good shape and/ or I really need/want it.
