If you could spend $1500-$2000 on one Morgan dollar, what would it be? I use that range because I feel like otherwise everyone will pick the highest valued one in the series. It seems like a realistic price without getting into the ridiculously priced ones. Would you go for a rare date/mm or would you go high grade? I assume slabbed due to the high price of the coin.' Maybe a PL or DMPL? I want to learn about the series so I thought this would be an interesting question. I don't know enough about the series to have a pick yet.

An 1882 O/S or CC chop marked Morgan. I have no idea of the existence of one, but if I could have only one, that would be the dream!

I agree with Zurie, I'd pick up a Proof of any date.

Either the 1893-S in G4-6 or an MS66DMPL or a proof Morgan.

Well my '21 needs a companion besides my Peace dollar so I'd definitely get an 1899 proof like Zurie.

I would get a 1878 8TF MS65 PL. The MS65 is top pop in PL condition for the 8TF, and in the last 20 years there have only two of them that have came up for auction. This coin is affordable, beautiful, and conditional rare.

What do you guys think is the best valued CC or Proof in that price range? Someday I'd like to get a nice Morgan but I have to save up a lot more so it will be a while. I don't have any slabbed Morgan's and the whole set is way too tough to complete.

I have one nice Proof for the type and two sets in Capital Plastics holders. One set is covers the 1878 varieties. The other is one coin from each mint.

Here is the Proof. The prices have come down, but you won't get one this nice for $2,000.
