At long last, my Buffalo nickel set is complete! It has been nearly 5 years in the making (assembling). It all stated out with a gorgeous, golden toned 1938-D that was part of my Dad's collection. The last coin, the 1913-S Type 2, just came in today. It is THE most expensive coin I've ever purchased ($331). Lots of pictures to see! For the record, I do not consider the 1918/7 and 1937-D 3-Legged varieties as part of the set, so those holes are filled with hobo skull nickels by my good friend, John Hughey. The blank holes are also filled by various Hobo skull nickels. I'm very proud of this set. All coins have a full date, which was the main criterion for inclusion in this set. There are a select few that I may possibly upgrade in the future. For now, though, I'm going to enjoy the completed set as it is. Enjoy the showcase! The final buffalo has come home: 1913-S Type 2

Very nice set. I am also working on a set. Need a lot of the earlier mintmarked dates I have 1929-1938 complete. Have a 26S too.

My set has been 17 years in the making now (the 1926 Buffalo was first in which the lunch lady kindly saved for me, followed by the 1936 I got by Littleton for Christmas that has since been upgraded). I haven't purchased a new coin for my set until today, where I purchased a combined ebay set of 91 Buffs from what the seller stated as from an old dealer along with six new V nickels as upgrades to the ones I have (from G-VG to Fine/VF) for just $44 ($41 after the ebay Bucks which were multiplied for today). With this I'll have every date/mint (no varieties) from 1928-38, reducing the total number of coins needed to 16 (all D/S-mint coins). Overall my lot isn't too impressive being mostly common dates with a few slightly better ones in G-Fine condition with a VF coin or two, but I plan on breaking some of the slabs and sell 40 (possibly 80 with eight of the best coins individually or as as set) as a roll of Full Date coins. I made a similar purchase with a bunch of Barber dimes seeing a couple of VF/EF coins and a few holes to fill while selling the rest and the best. Congrats on your set, next step is a "Full Horn Set" as IMO if every coin is VF or better, it will clearly be something to be proud of.

That a real nice price for the 1913-S, type 2. What did you pay for the 21-S and 26-s? The date on the 1915-S is outstanding. You did good. I have a set of Buffalos and I have three legged 1937-D. The expensive ones I bought them graded. Yours look to be in VF to EF condition. Very, very nice.

Quote: What did you pay for the 21-S and 26-s? 1921-S = $73 (ANACS VG10) 1926-S = $20 I've kept up with the costs since the beginning. Here is the break down for every buffalo I had to purchase for the set. 1913 T1: $22 1913-D T1: $31 1913-D T2: $71 1913-S T1: $92 1913-S T2: $331 1914: $27 1914-D: $101 1914-S: $42 1915: $19 1915-D: $45 1915-S: $72 1916: $21 1916-D: $22 1916-S: $18 1917: $7 1917-D: $44 1917-S: $39 1918: $13 1918-D: $58 1918-S: $20 1919: $11 1919-D: $23 1919-S: $39 1920: $12 1920-D: $22 1920-S: $8 1921: $12 1921-S: $73 1923: $8 1923-S: $13 1924: $9 1924-D: $21 1924-S: $30 1925: $17 1925-D: $37 1925-S: $14 1926: $7 1926-D: $20 1926-S: $20 1927: $4 1927-D: $18 1927-S: $20 1928: $12 1928-D: $15 1928-S: $11 1929: $15 1929-D: $9 1929-S: $15 1930: $7 1930-S: $7 1931-S: $33 1934: $3 1934-D: $22 1935-D: $3 1936-D: $17 1936-S: $3 1937-D: $20 1937-S: $34 TOTAL: $1,759 HOBO NICKELS: $240 So, filling every hole in this album cost me a total of $1,999.00.

As others have posted .... that is a very nice set I also don't like that there are holes for the 1918/7 and the 1937 D 3 legged. I do like how you filled those and the other unlabeled holes.
