Just to show it still happens, this was bought today as part of a group of circulated Barber dimes at $1.25 each (that's 15¢ apiece over melt). Unfortunately, this was actually the worst of the lot from the standpoint of condition, but it'd still serve as an acceptable "hole filler" for somebody looking to assemble the entire set. That's an awesome score for $1.25, congrats! I doubt I'll get that lucky to fill that hole!

Great to see this type of score, and I'm someone who appreciates a good honest coin that's been around the block and has the scars to prove it.

Very nice pickup I bought the Barber Dansco albums last year, and have been trying to fill them from junk silver boxes. I try to get them full rom. I have not found a 1913 S dime yet ... Seeing your's gives me hope. I still need 29 more dimes for the set.

Great coin for the price.

Quote: VG08/VG10 I say. Honestly, I was thinking more like AG03. That raises the risk/reward discussion over having it certified. I'd be kind of afraid that the scratch between "ONE" and "DIME" would incur a "details" annotation regardless of how it graded out otherwise.

Great score, but not certifiable imo.

The cost of getting the coin graded would eat into profits, if you were ever going to sell it. This is a great coin for filling a empty hole in a album. To me this coin is close to a Good 6 ...

Guys , the coin has 2 scratches obverse and at least 2 scratches reverse . It's a details coin. Forget about sending it anywhere except that hole in your album ! that said, again the 13-S is a tough Barber dime . the fact that it was found in a dealers junk box for $ 1.25 makes Lucky Cuss a winner in my book .

Here's a couple more out of that batch. Neither qualifies as a hot ticket like the 1913-S, but both are still better dates, if not semi-keys. Too bad the 1898-O isn't in better shape, as those get quite pricey very quickly, but then, for that reason, this specimen again should be desirable as a "hole filler".
