Making a Canadian token collection for my little boy. I have a bunch coming in the mail and this one has the darkest verdigris. A couple of others have light verdigris. Is there any hope for this one? Any help would be appreciated... Or is this just a crappy token I wasted my money on? I'm having a hard time to find some tokens for his collection at reasonable prices it seems.... he really loves them. He's 9.

VerdiCare is a good final step. Token already cleaned and corroded. Soak it in MS-70, most of that junk should come off.

I don't want to make it shiny and change the color. .. I just want to remove or control the corrosion (verdigris) so it doesn't further damage the token.
I keep reading Ms70 will turn copper coins bluish.... or make them look unnatural.

I think using acetone would help prevent any further damage from happening and possibly remove some of the verdigris. If anything is left behind after a soak in acetone, leave it as. I would advise against using MS-70.

Use the VerdiCare let it sit for a while and then use a tooth pick very carful and pick that verdigris off, dry and put VerdiCare on again. Do not use MS70

Acetone soak, followed with Verdi-Care. I've had great results with Verdi-Care.

That's what I believed too...a decade ago until I learned better. In some cases (especially artificial patina) MS-70 will lighten copper but original color can be restored to "original" patina. Try VerdiCare to restore any color change.

I want to buy Verdi-care and tried to message the guy on here that created it but because I am new on here I can not message anyone. Can someone let him know I'd like to speak with him. Maybe he can contact me. Thanks.

Shipping from Wizard Supply is outrageous.

The picture is too small for me to tell much...but VC will only remove light to moderate verdigris. It will NOT remove thick, heavy verdigris.
Personally, I would NEVER use MS70 on a copper coin and I don't recommend it. It may be perfectly fine on other metals but it can produce adverse effects on copper.

Quote: Shipping from Wizard Supply is outrageous. Shipping to Canada is expensive. Wizard charges a "maximum" shipping fee and then will reimburse you for actual shipping costs. While it seems expensive in cart, the actual cost will be lower. Unfortunately, that's your only choice as I do not ship outside of the USA.
