Is there any reason to dip an uncirculated coin from an OBW roll before putting in a flip. I'm thinking no but want to run it past the pro's.

Unless that roll suffered environmental damage and/or acquired nasty ugly toning, you should try to maintain the originality of the coins. In short, don't dip unless required.

Thank you RidgeWest. I have a couple spots on a few but don't believe Acetone would take them off anyways.

Agree. Acetone is generally used to lift an accumulated surface film, including PVC contamination, on old or new coins. Normally it would not be needed on OBW coins, but there's certainly no harm in testing a few for results.

BadThad dips all of his before 2x2ing. Even new coin may have oils on them from the minting process.

I agree with John. Dipping it in acetone will remove any finger grease or other unseen uninvited objects. I do the same.

Good point John since we know there is grease involved.

I've heard mixed things on the effect of acetone on copper coins. Anyone have any problem with it affecting the color of an unc red copper coin?

See the "is acetone cleaning" thread - at least one poster argues against acetone for red cents.
