I am not an expert in the realm of cobs, in fact I do not really care for them.

Here what I notice is an odd display of the Castles and Lions on the crest. If the castles are positioned in an upright posture the rest of the crest is incorrect. It is as if the castles were placed on their sides in a correct configuration.

Swamperbob, thanks for looking at them. You were so helpful with the 8 reales that I thought this might also be in your area.

It looks like the photos of you post are edited to be a 'mirror image' of the real coin. What you have is a 1 real from Mexico struck during the reign of Felipe II (1556-1598), most of them are not dated, and donīt show a denomination.

tislogue, thank you. I just realized I used a new editing tool and it did "flip" the photo to a mirror image.

The date don't show on early cobs under Felipe II - it shows later :)
You have a denomination usually (except for some 1 real and lower values) - unless the coin was not fully struck (which often happened .)

A nice early mexican cob coin. It must be a smaller denomination, like 1 or 2 reales.
