Hi Gary - the pictures are a little blurry, but you can see the flat-shelf typical to MD. It is important to keep in mind that a coin can be doubled and also have MD. Clearer pictures would help, but this appears to be an extreme case of MD. This was pretty typical for that year.

Note on the date how the damage to the devices are uneven and the contour of the devices are no longer there on those areas. They were damaged after the strike. A hop, bounce after the strike by die movement altered those devices. This one may have been one of the master die doubled examples which are common as they were from all three mint mints. Just worth copper scrap melt.

Dang it I still have not got this right lol. So many tiny diffrences that it makes it difficult to learn them all and there diffrences. Time to get back to the learning grind lol. Thank you both.

You probably did call it right Gary. It probably is an actual DDO. Unfortunately, the dies for 1972 received their doubling from the master die which meant there were a lot of them. Even more unfortunately, the die jumped a little upon striking this one. Fortunately, though you should be able to find a good example of a DDO for this year, with relative ease.
