So I decided I wanted to join in the fun, and plan on ordering a box of halves.
My only question is, when you take them to your dump bank, do you bring the whole completed box or do you deposit them a few rolls at a time.

Well....."I" would bring the whole kitten-kaboodle in to dump. I do this at "my" bank (which there are 3 branches of in town) If your bank knows you....and they're not too busy......there's no problems with it. My bank will take my "batch" and walk behind to their "coin counter" and dump them in and about 50 seconds later they come and ask if I want the cash or to deposit the money in my account......... There's no issue or angry glances or threats of "coin charge" or anything. Now if you go to a bank that ISN'T yours and try that......that's a different story ! Some will spread it around just so as not to burden anyone or "wear out yer' welcome" so to speak....... Also......just "ASK" them too, be upfront and ask if it's okay for you to bring these in to dump.

i work for a commercial bank, so I dump all of my coins into one of several of our companies coin machines, I usually dont dump at each bank more than once a month to keep each bank from getting angry at me and I never dump at banks I get halves from so as not to get them angry either

Halves I tend to dump at one bank in a batch. I deposit them into my account rolled (my bank does not have the coin counting machine option) but they know me well and they know what I am doing. Luckily, they don't care! And, dumping at the bank that you buy from is a bad idea because you could very easily get back the searched ones that you deposited before! See if where you live there are multiple armored car companies that deliver to the banks in town. Try to to buy your coins from a bank that does not use the same armored company as your dump bank. This gives you a better shot at "fresh" coins. Good Luck!

Hey guys and gals, I am still waiting for my 1st box of halves to come in. I found a bank that had three rolls available. I took them home and what did I find. A 1959 Franklin and a 1967 40%. I was so excited and my wife thinks I am crazy because I started doing the happy banana dance.

The banana dance is so cool! I totally knew how you felt!
Here is something I experienced which you may find interesting:
I deposited $250 halves 4 weeks ago on a Saturday at one branch close to my place. Yesterday on my way to work I deposited another $1000 at a different branch which was the only one opened at 8am. Guess what happened?
The teller was the same person! She remembered me for that $250 deposit 4-week ago and I didn't remember her! I guess $250 halves would be a unique (and maybe odd) situation for her so she remembered me. She told me that on Saturdays tellers in my bank rotate among all the opening local branches. Holy smokes! And they definitely talk to each other! I also know that another bank here rotates on Saturday. It seems that Saturday to bank tellers is like Night Shift to Nurses! Since only a portion of the branches open on Saturday I guess it is only fair for every teller work on some Saturdays.
Luckily I had some Hershey's sticks in my pocket. I got most girls smiling except the boss lady standing behind. I just want them remember me as "odd but nice". I definitely will dump much more so I'd better butter them up!

My dump bank is a branch in a grocery store. Their coin machine only holds $200 in halves, and then they have to open up the machine, take out the box, empty it, put it back in, close the door, then start it again. It takes about 20 minutes for them to go through $1000 depending on how fast they are. As I was wheeling the grocery cart up to the counter, the lady looked down and saw my two boxes and said "Oh, pick someone else, please." So, yes, they do remember you.
I was in another one of my banks today and I asked the teller if they had any halves. She said she would ask around. I looked across the way to another tellers tray and could see some. They were really shiney so I started to get excited. My teller said "Oh, you have some halves." THe other teller said "NO I DON'T!" My teller said in a confused voice "Oh, you don't?" "NO!" I missed out on something good there! At first I was irritated, because they are often rude at this branch. But then I realized that I had just found a new dump bank!

Figures, 3 rolls and 2 nice coins. Try 150 rolls and nothing, then you wont be so excited :(
Can you tell I'm having a bad day?

Have any of you tried spending the halves? Gets a little heavy and of course you will get the odd looks. I imagine the halves may travel from your market to your "buy bank" -- not a good thing. Best is dump it at your "dump bank" and hope it stays there.

I spend the halves all the time. In my 5+ years of half searching, I have yet to take a single half back to the bank. I'm doing my part to get them back into general circulation.

I was at a bank downtown (one I have an account with), I was dumping some searched coins in the machine they have. After I was done I took my slip to the teller and she asked me how I wanted it, I asked her for $50 in nickels, she looked at me as if to see if I was serious, I told her I wasn't kidding in a polite manner and then she said see couldn't do that, I was extremely surprised by her response but I really wasn't in the mood to go to the manager s I just left with cash. I really don't know but isn't that what banks are for, to handle money transactions and fulfill their customers needs.
Does anyone else have problems getting rolls from any banks?

Tricks On dumping halfs I learned and I do all time. It tough sometimes 1. Spend them at gas stations, Burger king, Food places, Feed stores, Post office, Court house, Grocery stores, Walmart. Those are places I spent halfs. I spend unrolled just to get rid of them. I save paper dollars and dont spend them. Becides dumping in Banks. Use them in places where you buy stuff and dont use paper money or bank cards . That stuff you need buy each day anyway. Use your halfs and dont use paper dollars. I just spent 30 bucks worth on Gas for car another 22.5 at another gas station. I spent 6 bucks at Burger King, 21 bucks at Feed store all in one day. Those guys took them no problem and could care less. So save paper dollars and dont use them . Spend Halfs instead on stuff you buy each day. 2. Find banks that have machices at are free and open up secord bank account with company. I dont reroll them to dump them. I dump into machices and go to another Branch to pull paper dollars. 3. Dont use coinstar its rip off unless you get gifht card you can use from them. Its fun spending Halfs becides just tossing into Banks. Some Clerks love or hate them since they dont circulate or whatever. Chevrolet454ss
