I was out on the mint's web site and saw that the 2016 ASE release date is "TBD".

Isn't this year's ASE really late? I thought that last year it was released in March or April.

Production problems, or have I lost my mind?

They're just trying to figure out the edge lettering.

Different product. The Mint sells burnished ASE's with a 'W" mint mark..
Over 20 million of the bullion have been sold...zero of the W..and, as was mentioned, it's all about the edge lettering

It seems like there are 2 types of 2016 ASE's:

1) non 30th anniversary (reeded)
2) official 30th anniversary collector's edition (edge lettering)

Am I misunderstanding this?

I'm interested in getting the version that includes the edge lettering.
From some websites, they've stated spring/summer as the release date.
The proof and uncirculated versions are to get the edge lettering.
Does this mean the bullion versions don't?

But, I don't see a "TBD" AGE listed in the usmint's product catalog.
I thought both AGE and ASE were both going to have the edge lettering?

Correct on the ASE...

AGE is on sale now and has the normal edge.

I'm new to coin collecting...

But it appears there's been special editions for each anniversary year.

I'm assuming the AGE as well?
I thought I read that both the AGE and the ASE will get the special edge lettering treatment?

I'm curious if the proof and burnished, without reeding, will fit properly and snuggly in my album holes?

Good question... I guess time will tell. The overall dimensions should be the same but with the different minting process, who knows?

Just to be clear ... If this is wrong please post correct
answer.

Both Proof and burnished American silver eagles ( ASE)
will have edge lettering.

The bullion 2016 coins I have and have no edge lettering.

Is there information out there that states how the edge
lettering will be.

Reeding or no reeding.

I am asking this because of the 1992 Olympic Commemorative
UNC dollar. It has reeding and edge lettering.

The ASE will have the same smooth edge lettering as the ATB 5 oz. puck

I'm surprised that we still have no date announcement for 2016 proof and burnished ASEs. Half the year left but still!

It was supposed to be sometime in July but that possibility seems to be fading fast...

I am sort of excited about getting some of the mint box, UNC and proof,
ASE's this year.

For me just thinking that I started buying ASE's in 1986, when the program started.
And have been buying some every year. 30 years ...
