I am curious how other collectors feel about 8TF Morgan dollars.

I have been trying to acquire better Morgans. I have two 8TF's, but have the opportunity to purchase a AU, that may
have been cleaned. My lowest grade one is low VF.

My better one I plan on sending in to be graded.
I have a friend that needs a 8TF and would pay greysheet.

Some of my questions

Would you consider 8TF Morgan's to be on the same level as
common CC Morgan's.

Would you consider a cleaned AU to be better than a VF.

Would you sell your extra to a friend or keep them all

The 8tf is unique and on a higher level than a common date. I would put it in the better date category. I recently sold a nice ms62 for over $200, and I really did not want to sell it because of the variety, but needed the money, so I could upgrade to a 8tf ms 63PL.

I agree an 8TF is a must have for any Morgan collector, and do command a premium. I have a MS 7/8TF. still looking for the 8TF

As for you questions.
I know I would rather have a VF uncleaned coin than an AU cleaned one.

Compared to CC dollars it really depends on years and grade I guess. In high MS(MS65 and up) an 1878 8TF are quite pricey compared to most CC coins. In lower grade the CC coins seem to command more money.

As for selling to friend. Nothing wrong with that. Why not trade him for one you don't have?

Some days I just can't get a good pictures.

Both of these coins look better, in hand, than what I am capturing.

I would be open to that. But the only ones I don't have
are 1895, 1893 S, 1895 S and 1903 O. If he has any of those
not sure he would be open to a trade.

Just checked my other one, I am thinking it is not a 8TF.
More of a 7 over 8. I will have to look up the VAM

Perhaps you can trade for something other than a Morgan.

So the thoughts are, no need to keep both.
Sell or trade.

I am trying to accumulate more Carson city Morgans.
I can check if he is open to that.
