Part of today's silver haul.

Grade this 1904 Morgan dollar -- not nearly as scarce as its S-mint brother, but less common than its O-mint other brother.

Me: ( VAM 5) XF45

CCF: ?

Agree that this one sneaks into the low AU range. AU-50.

It's cleaned (or over-dipped) with AU50 detail.

I call it 45. I'm not seeing the "over dipped" look though.

AU-50, kind of dullish but I think it makes low AU.

It's a very dull gray with hints of luster around a couple of the obverse details. I would agree w/possibly dipped. Does not appear to be mechanically cleaned.

Does this picture below change your grade? (bottom right)

Showed the coin to 3 other Morgan folks, including a 30+ year dealer, and got XF45/XF45/AU50 with no prompting on my part.

I put it in the Dansco, and it's recorded as a 45 for now.

Most of those Morgans looked dipped with a few of them starting to retone. Nothing at all unusual about that and some would surely be considered problem-free.
