Hey all,

Was just curious if PCGS and NGC still do + grades, or in between grades at all. I've see quite a few Morgan dollars with half grades over the years, but unsure if they still do this at all. Thanks

What do you mean bt "half grades"? Do you mean the + grades or things like 63.5? Off the top of my head I can only think of three companies that have used decimal point grading and none of them have been active for a long time.

The "+" is not a half grade. It is PCGS and NGC's attempt to "cash in" or at least stem the popularity of CAC. MS63+ , like a green bean, means that it is strong for the grade, not MS63.5.

I would find it very difficult to believe that the coin collecting community would embrace a revamping of the Sheldon scale to include .5 grade designations. I think that a total revamp to a 1-100 scale would be more likely , if a change was to occur.

Sorry guys, I shouldn't have used the phrase half grades in there when referring to plus grades. I have a few of what I believe to be strong MS64 grades in old ICCS holders that I'd like to submit to either PCGS or NGC in hopes of receiving a 64 plus grade as opposed to getting my hopes up with a 65 lol.
