What is your favorite and oldest coin that you have found in circulation. Mine is a dateless Buffalo nickel I got from my friend in 5th grade. He bought lunch and dropped his change on the table and my hand just so happened to get that one. Out of all the other pennies and dimes. I still have it to this day.

Like you Alex, I also found my coin at school. Found a 1909 VDB Lincoln Penny in my change at the school bookstore one day. Must have been 1970 or 71. Still have it today.

Too bad it wasn't minted in San FrancIsco. I just wish I got into coins a lot sooner. Who knows what could of passed through my hands. I remember my dad spending red seal notes and silver certificates at wawa when I was a kid. If only I knew.

Nothing as old as some by the UK did decimalise in 1971 and had a couple of revamps. My most special coin has to be the 1994 large 50p D- Day anniversary, I remember asking my granda for it as a child. We always had a special connection and he was the one who got me interested in coins and football (soccer to any Americans) it's in fantastic condition so must've been fresh out of the bag. If I ever had to sell my collection it would be one of the handful of coins I would never let go of..

Agree with Carl. They all are special in their own way.

I started collecting around the age of 8 when I got an 1874 penny in change - that was a few years before the UK changed to decimal. I still have the coin and would never part with it. It isn't my oldest circulation find, though - I also got an 1860 (Beaded Border) penny just before decimalisation!

I remember checking dad's pocket change each day when he came home from work. Found a 1918S wheat and silver Roosevelt dime at the same time. This would have been around 1978 when I was 16. Still have those coins. I had also just started roll hunting, and I recall soon after that silver prices began to climb and the full-page ads in the newspaper "Buying Silver and Gold!" Good times!
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

1943/2 Jefferson nickel. I actually had it slabbed - Fine/Details - one nasty scratch on the obverse. Why would I have this coin slabbed? Like several of you, found this searching nickel rolls with my mom. After she passed away, I decided to have it slabbed.

Got a 1917 Wheat cent in change many years ago. I remember thinking 'dang, this is close to 100 years old.' It is still in my wallet today.

Not necessarily old, but my favorites from circulation are a 1995 ASE in very early 2014 and a 1964 Canada silver dollar about a month later. My favorite old find was an 1867 3-cent nickel in September of 2014.
