So I am a coin addict - nothing to do with value, nothing to do with investing - everything to do with loving coins. I've been nicknamed in my social circles Scrooget.
My husband lives fantastically with my addiction, however over the years we've had to make some crazy rules so our marriage survives it! Some of these are:
1. I cannot pay more then face value for a common circulation coin. 2. I cannot have more then $300 in "loose" coins around the house at any one time (my safe doesn't count) 3. My safe cannot have common circulated coins in it - only precious metals, mint sets etc.
At one point he found and rolled over $900 in recent year Kennedy fifty cent common circulation coins. That was the end of some of his patience. *laughter*
HAHAHAHA what crazy 'rules' do you find yourself adhering too?

Once I found my 1 year old teething on an 1819 large cent, so maybe I should have more rules.

Keep all coins outside of the body. That includes teething.

My Only Rule : "Do Not Touch Or Look At." ( Of course , this only applies to my coins...)

1. Don't touch dad's coins. 2. Buys over $20 should have a heads up. Over $75 I should be able to explain why its special for the collection and something that doesn't come around on a regular basis that could easily be bought later.

So far I got around any rules but my fiancee starts to complain more and more about coins taking too much space in our appartment. I guess I won't have to wait too long to see the first rules being established here ;)

My wife just knows to let me look through everything before we spend it.

My wife told me not to be such a sap when falling for everyone's hard luck stories to sell me their coins. One guy said he has a box of Buffalo nickels and I wanted to fill a Whitman folder. One nickel didn't even have all four legs.

Don't coin stupid rules.

No rules here -- probably should have some. Things have gotten a bit out of hand. Must organize SOON!

I guess the closest thing to a rule that I have is don't spend anymore money, that rule always seems to get broken when a new coin shows up

No rules here yet either, although the fiance is not happy about the fact we have not had a kitchen table for about 6 months now as it's my coin/eBay shipping station as she calls it.

Not really a rule, but I get to see all the change we get before putting it into the wallet.

We have an agreement that I look through all the coins before spending them. Also, NO (!) talking about coins at morning coffee :D And I have to make sure all coins are out of reach to our cat (she just loves to throw little shiny things on the floor and then play with them).
