Again my pics are turning out a dull gray. This coin has full mint luster or very close. Thanks upfront for your help. Jim

AU58; the strike and general "meh" is due to the late die state. This VAM is VAM 4B (LDS+ of 4), easily recognized by the "spike" of metal at the outer left of the bottom loop of the first 8 and the die break/die chip at the top of E in AMERICA. This is a very scarce VAM (R6). Nice score and not often seen "in the wild" -- congrats!

Thanks everyone for your assistance. I normally take decent pictures I must have some setting off. Thanks paralyse for identifying the VAM for me on this coin as well as the 1898-O I posted.

Paralyse, does this particular VAM have any additional premium? I sure hope so, I paid to much for the two coins. I was helping out someone who was needing a few bucks. I gave him $250 for this coin and the 1898-O.

It is a scarce VAM but of low interest and probably would not carry much of a premium.
