Nice pick-ups! I like the design of the fish (catfish?) on the coin from Danzig.

Its a codfish.
One of the reasons I bought it is because I liked the expression of the cod.

Danzig also has a coin with a flounder on it, having about the same expression as the cod :D

An interesting lot indeed!

Quote:
1845 J Spain 4 Maravedis:

Just a point of clarification: These Isabel II 4 maravedis with denomination on obverse were minted at Segovia (a), Jubia (J), and Barcelona (B).

The Jubia mint mark is a J or JA and Barcelona is B or BA.

The coins from Segovia use the symbol of an aqueduct (hence "a"). Your coin has the aqueduct symbol at 6h on the reverse. Thus, your coin would more properly be an 1845a 4 maravedis or 1845 Segovia 4 maravedis.

Historical note: Queen Isabel II was only 15 years old when this coin was struck and had been ruling Spain in her own right (without regents) since 1843. Although she was generally regarded as a kind and caring person, she was ill suited for politics and management of a country. She ultimately fled Spain in 1868 in response to a popular uprising against her.

Several nice pick-ups, but my favorite is the puppet state from China: interesting history and way cool design.

Japanese puppet state coins routinely fetch $10 in lesser shape than this on ebay. I think you did very well!
