This thread is inspired by the End Roll Finds thread. Let's post pictures of what we identify through the side of clear rolls prior to opening them. I'll get us started off with a game. Yesterday I found 14 proofs in the first 12 rolls from a box of nickels, and two rolls had two proofs each. ( Yes, Virginia, there are apparently impaired-proof nickel hoards found in machine-wrapped rolls!). So I looked through the remaining rolls and discovered that the other proofs stand out because of the straight rather than curved rims (and so appear to be a bit thicker, and the finish is different). There is one proof in each of the following rolls. Can you find them? (The solution is at the bottom of this thread). To get this thread started off to a good start, here are some photos of other side-roll finds. Cent in Nickels: Dimes in Cents: Solution to the proof puzzle above: So, let's see what you find!

Yes... 100% on the proof quiz. This is a good idea for a topic. I don't have any pictures at the moment, but I'll post here if I get something. In my second-to-last nickel box I saw one on the side that looked just like a War Nickel based on the grey color, but it was just a worn 1946. I expect to see a lot of edge-hunted silver here.

Same here, but you can just rip/cut the paper without spilling the coins out.

I recently found 2 individual silver dimes in 2 clear plastic machine-wrapped rolls (I think it's Brinks that packages and/or delivers them?), but forgot to take a picture. So sorry! When I'm in the mood, I love quickly searching those, since you don't even have to open them to spot silver. Of course, I still try to repackage them wherever possible so no one starts to suspect what I'm doing!

I don't know any banks that do the clear plastic rolls... I do remember when I was working at Taco Bell 30-ish years ago and running into a batch of dimes which were wrapped like this... and almost all of the 10 or so rolls the manager bought had 1 or 2 silver ones. I got around 15 90% Dimes out of that...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Twelve coins from the left is a chrome-colored non-USA coin in this roll of Roosevelt dimes, and it is magnetic:

Would it count if you opened up a roll (not clear plastic wrapped) and saw one?
