So this morning I was going to post my best find to date. A Two Cent Piece I found while trying to fill a tunnel dug by a chipmunk!

Well it was a nice Sunday outside today so I broke out the ol' metal detector and headed down to an old, essentially abandoned football field. 2 hours into my search and after pulling several nails, pop tops, and pop can remains, my detector goes wild. Pull out the old spade and start digging. About 6-8 inches into the ground I pull this Morgan out of the earth....then I flip it, and there is the "CC"....it's well worn but what a find!

1879 Morgan CC!! Unfortunately in terrible shape! And yes, I know my pictures are still bad ;-)

Wow! Doesn't look like a buried coin, must say.

Didn't think so either however it pulled up in a block of mud that I needed to break apart. I took a soft brush to it just to get residual dirt off it however no corrosion but it's well worn

No doubt. Figures I would stumble upon a high dollar coin that would have to be beaten to the max :(

It may be well worn, but I can't see any actual damage. That's a fantastic find!

A wonderful find! I've been detecting for four years and can only dream of digging up something like this.

Congrats ....

I started metal detecting in the 1980's. Went a lot in the 80's and 90's.

I have found only two Morgan's ... And one Ike.

I have always thought the bigger coins are not lost as often as the
smaller coins.

And then to find a 1879 CC ... That is crazy cool
