This just got messed up by a rolling machine. It is post strike damage.

This sometimes happens to coins that are on the end of machine-wrapped rolls. Although this is a spender, keep looking and you can find some interesting pieces in circulation!

Gumball machines can make a similar effect.

Sadly the last remaining cent machines are most likely exhibited at the Smithsonian next to the extinct dinosaur exhibit. Thanks, Doug.
