I was at a local coin shop today. The owner told me that Dansco has the 7070 ready, He told me he put a order for five.
He was busy so I did not get anymore details.
Has anyone else heard something about this?
If there is another post about this .. I did not see it.

This is the first I have heard of it. Good news if it is true. I will not upgrade mine, but I know it will make many people very happy.

If it is true, would you buy more than 1 album in hopes that the same will happen as the current one?

That would probably be good for a long term investment. If it does come back, it might be readily available for a while, if only for the reason that a lot of people are probably thinking the same (buy more than one).

I'm intrigued to see how the new design would look like from a designer point of view. I didn't like the old type as it was a bit too simple.

If true I would buy one just to have and hold onto. The 7070 isn't on my current list of numismatic projects but it likely will be!

It again was a busy day at that coin shop, and I could not hang out long ... just long enought to pick up a Commemorative dollar I needed.
Here is what that coin shop owner told me.
"His supplier told him Dansco was getting ready to ship type albums. The Supplier told him the problem, the past couple years, was that Dansco needed new die's that cut the holes in the pages."
He really did not have any other information or any explanation of that information.
I have checked other online sites and have not seen anything posted.
Maybe we will hear more in the coming days .. or weeks.

That makes sense to me, there are a lot of different sized holes in the 7070. I would not be surprised if they actually collected every coin for the new 7070, just to make sure the hole sizes were correct. Given that I have spent 23 years on this endeavour, I am not surprised it has taken them a long time now. Also, if this is true, then my " Whitman Solution" would not have sped this up, being a manufacturing problem and not general apathy for the product line.

I am somewhat disagreeing that it would take that long to produce dies to cut holes in cardboard.
The only possible reason that I can think of is that prototypes were made a long time ago and a bunch lot of coins are in the album for quality control. Last thing a manufacturer would need is a bunch lot of claims that the albums are of poor quality and coins that placed in the album would tarnish or tone in ugly pattern.

Yes, my point being that the die manufacture did not take long on its own, but that the actual delay came from obtaining the measurements (by acquiring actual coins and not going by published numbers).
