Been seeing more and more 100 oz silver bars trying to be sold by private parties. Tempted to buy some at spot price but unsure as to how hard is it to sell back to a LCS if silver was to go into the $30+. Stacking purposes I'm sure it's easier. Anybody have any experience selling 100 oz bars? Easy and simple or difficult due to the quantity of ozs in one bar?

Very difficult to sell to end users unless you set the price to very low. It is too big and expensive, not many buyers will trust you. You can get some idea from the red-dit subforum: https://www. /r/Pmsforsale/search?q=100+Oz&restrict_sr=on br / If you sell it to LCS, you should expect -6% ~ -10% of your buying price. You should buy 100 x 1 Oz (Eagle or Maple) coins or 10 x 10 Oz bars. It is much easier to sell.

If you want to retain a bullion position with it, probably a good idea to convert as below:
My inclination would be to get a nice St Gaudens with it, and perhaps some smaller silver or gold (coins or bars) with the remainder.

People say they're hard to sell and I used to believe them but time and again I've seen lcs's & pawn shops buy them from walk-ins at fair prices so if one won't buy just go to another. Personally, I'd always buy 10x 10oz over a single 100oz. You can get the 10x 10oz for roughly the same price with a little searching so price isn't a factor and the upside to having 10 tend over 1 hundo is much better

They're also harder to divide up.

Skip the 100ozers and buy 10oz bars instead. If you have a desire for "big bars" then consider 1 kilo bars. They are much more manageable to handle both physically and financially. Here's one of mine:

Our shop likes to buy them because they work well when someone is trading in gold for silver.

In my opinion ....
Pro's Large bars have a cool factor.
Cons When selling Smaller number of buyers If you only wanted to sell 10oz, you really can't cut it up. Possible storage issues.
For me I like the 5oz bars. But could see me buying some 10oz. I like bars with themes, if can be bought with out to high of premium.
But then I do like Englehard pillow bars too ...

Yeah, I agree with most of the above sentiments. It would be cool to have a 100oz bar but just generally difficult to deal with.
10oz bars are as big as I've gone. They're easy to handle and if you buy reputable brands, easy to liquidate. I have a mix of 1, 5 and 10oz bars in my stash and they're all very manageable. I haven't gotten to the point where space is an issue (wouldn't that be a lovely problem to have), but if it ever does, I'd likely "color up" to gold vs. trying to save space by converting to larger bars.
However, I do like the kilo idea at some point too, BH1964, if silver stays low and I have a bit of extra cash to convert.

Kilo coins are cool too. I have a 2014 year of the horse kilo I picked up for close to spot last year. They are glorious to hold and make the 5oz pucks look like child's play

I think a lot of 10 10oz bars is easier to trade than one of 100oz. Simply because not everyone has over $1500 available to invest in bullion and it might also be a bigger risk (there's lots of counterfeit stuff on the market). It is actually pretty cool to have a 100OZ bar, though, just not very practical.

100 ounce is good if you a well verse in your stack and you have money. I got jm 100 oz and 100 APMEX silver bar but only Because I have other bullion for the smaller trades.

My silver is for use when the dollar, or the infrastructure, collapses. If I'm hungry, I'd rather have a few silver dimes to trade for a chicken to choke. Jest Sayin'.

Often solid companies like Provident and APMEX indicate a buy back price. I'm not sure how much less the buy back is if it's less than $10,000, but this should give you an idea of selling a 100 ounce bar.

If I'm hungry, I'd rather have a few silver dimes to trade for a chicken to choke. Too funny! I raise hens but I only have a dozen layers, and a family of four. Going to cost you a gold eagle if you'd like one of those birds. You see, I have no use for silver if shtf, nor do my neighbors.

fist: That's a great attitude to have. Too many people think metals won't weight them down when food is clearly the better choice. Gold doesn't DO anything for you. If you want to splurge, show off, embellish something, go nuts, but in terms of desperation it does nothing. The common person knows the essentials: shelter, food, water, and protection of loved ones. Gold is far from the minds of people in need of life's staples.
