When I first looked at it,I figured lamination w/ a die crack. Then my imagination started running wild. (Strike through with a retained brake.) Decided to post and get the opinions of experts. Thank you for your input.

I think you got it right the first time -- lamination and die crack. But then -- not an expert -- I had to look up 'strike through with retained brake'.

Obverse at 2:00 looks like coin damage to the rim. The lamination is different looking. The die break has not reached the 'retained Die Cud status yet. (but getting there.)
