I found a strange LMC tonight CRHing. It is one of the coolest looking coins I have found, but not sure what is going on. The obverse appears to be struck through something, guessing grease, but the bust has something going on in Lincoln's hair and ear area. The reverse also displays MD along ONE CENT and the base of the memorial. Let me know what you all think. Thanks for any insight, it ia greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert...but I want to take a guess and see if I have learned anything as I have just started collecting LMC/LWCs

I see a MAD(slightly offset as well? Is this possible? ) coin with a Struck Through Grease obverse and Machine Doubling in some devices.

I could be way off so lets see what the pros say.

MontCollector, thank you for the welcome! I am very new at collecting, but have learned a lot from reading the forums. My guess is the same as yours. The only feature that was a little strange is Lincoln's head. Not sure what is going on there

That is just a shadow from my not great photo taking abilities. Here are 2 more pics. A close up and an angle with intentional glare to show the indentations on the bust.

Wow that is some crater!!

My gut says PMD of some sort. Happened a while ago and has toned over.

Also after looking at new pictures I am not so sure about it being struck through either.

Struck through a thinning die cap. Note the rim. The rim is not square in share, slightly rounded. Devices weakened because the die cap is getting thinner. (eventually it will fall off) The reverse is showing machine damage after the strike. (no hub doubling present) Nice find.
