I read about this yesterday. I'm surprised the larger numismatic publications/organizations haven't written anything up yet. Huge loss for sure.

--- --- God puts everyone here with a purpose and an opportunity. What some people are able to do with their "opportunity" can be an amazing thing.

It is not often that someone's name is used instead of the Product. That is "in krause" vs. "in the standard catalogue of world coins". Kind of like all tissue being called "Kleenex"

I had not heard of his passing. He certainly left his mark on our hobby.

Kind of like all tissue being called "Kleenex" Kleenex isn't a last name though (but I see what you mean). And it's actually fairly common to refer to catalogues by author names. As for C.L.Krause himself - to be honest, I had no idea he was still alive. (Eric P. Newman still is, right?) R.I.P.

Yes Newman is still alive (He recently had a birthday, he's 105 now.). So is Chet's former partner Cliff Mishler.

When it comes to the World numismatic knowledge base covering the last 400 years, he as left the largest legacy. R.I.P., but a huge loss to numismatics , as well as his own family. WE stand on the shoulders of a giant, and are indebted to him.

Heard about it earlier. It was the scuttlebutt around Summer Seminar today. Another giant has been lost to us

Sad news. Sad times.
His life should be an inspiration to us all and we should be thankful that he contributed so much to our hobby (and for many, profession).
And hopefully new giants will pick up the torch and carry on his work, as daunting a task as that will be.
RIP and thanks, Chester Lee Krause.
