AU+ sharpness..i won't comment on surface originality or colour but I am very skeptical of this coin's originality and I think it is likely cleaned and retoning.

Surfaces appear "dead", with no luster. I agree this AU+ piece was thoroughly dipped at some point and has since re-toned. It should be valued much lower than an original coin but might still appeal at the right price.

XF 45 with some major distractions. I would go for an example with luster, or less distractions.

I do not know if the sufaces are original, but it looks AU-53 to me.

I'd say AU-50 or EF-45 depending upon the luster.
I'd say that it has been dipped and the toning you see is from re-toning.

Thanks for the comments. The coin is currently in a AU 50 ANACS holder. The coin is priced at $499 on ebay. If I did buy the coin, I would need it to cross to PCGS for my registry set.  |

Tough call. But I think the sharpness and detail is at least AU-50.

I'd pass at that price. ANACS, especially in the later years slabbed many cleaned/problem coins that PCGS or NGC wouldn't.
Definitely has AU detail but like the others I think this coin has been retoned.

PCGS price guide shows $625 for this coin assuming it was in a no-problem PCGS slab at AU-50. The price guide usually gives full retail pricing for PCGS coins. I'd venture to guess you could find an example already in a PCGS holder for not much more than this ANACS piece. That would be a better plan IMO since there is no guarantee that PCGS would cross the ANACS coin at the same grade. They also might flag it as cleaned or Artificially Toned.

Look in the obverse fields. I see tons of hairlines. I do not think the color looks natural, and has the texture of a previously-cleaned coin.
