This came back in a "Boddybag" from PCGS as Counterfeit.
It passes the ring test , it weighs 11.7g and is the same size as a regular coin.
I can't see anything that leaps out at me on the coin to say that this is a fake.
Expert opinions very welcome on this one.

This is not my area of expertise, but general observations are:

1) Most of the denticles appear to be dots instead of connected to the rim. Is this normal?
2) There are numerous raised areas in the flat surfaces on both the obverse and reverse (for example, between the chin and the I of KING). This can be a marker of counterfeit coins.
3) Not determinative of this specific coin, but this coin is one that is counterfeited in China and sold online for a few dollars each.

The denticals do look suspicious.
Here are a couple of images of a genuine AU coin (on the right) and this VF one side by side.

The genuine VF coin is showing far better relief than the AU fake. The lettering thickness is also a bit off, and the 'I' of 'William' and the four '1's' are off. The serifs are smaller or missing. I'm not pleased with the color or luster of the AU coin, either. It just looks like baser metal.

I'll bet you a doughnut that PCGS also ponied up for a Spectrographometer or whatever it's called, to remotely analyse the metal content of suspected fakes.

The coin is a numismatic forgery. The details of the design are missing and the lettering is rounded. This is a transferred image centrifugal casting. It is quite obvious if you have been exposed to as many of the type as I have.
