I'm sure it's been explained here once or a thousand times, just wonder what constitutes a true birthday note. Was wondering if the month, date, with a four digit for the year has to be there IE: 07052016. Also does it have to be left to right or can it be right to left.

For the US, I believe it would be month/day/year e.g. 07052016. Other countries would use day/month/year.

@chequer has explained it as I understand it to be......left to right MM/DD/YEAR for the United States.

I agree with the above -- standard US date notation is MM/DD/YYYY. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way it is and there's no way we'll be changing any time soon.

However, who's to say that 19770101 is less a birthday note than 01011977?

The very fact that that there are multiple ways to designate a note as a "birthday note" should give everyone pause when considering value of such notes, if that is your concern. If not, then collect however you like.

Generally MMDDYYYY, DDMMYYYY, YYYYDDMM, and YYYYMMDD are the accepted birthday note combinations.

May 5, 1872 is Museum Lover's Day!

May 5, 1872 is National Chocolate Custard Day!

May 5, 1872 is National Hoagie Day!

May 5, 1872 is Oyster Day!

May 5, 1872 is Revenge of the Fifth!
