I received this note in a birthday card. The note looks and feels real. The fiberous paper, raised ink, and sharp even lines look just like every other 5 dollar bill, except it bled from both sides on the card. It seems like the k didn't set properly. Does anyone know if this is a mistake or do you think it's counterfeit piece?

I don't think it is a counterfeit.

My best guess is the paper in the envelope may have reacted with the note...especially if one or the other may have been damp.

Surely, Grandma Shirley wouldn't be passing off counterfeits to her grandkids would she?

Notes bleeding ink to cards is common. It's probably fine.

P.S. Happy Birthday!
