Hi. I usually lurk around the paper money section and don't really post. I did just recently come across an uncirculated roll of the harper's ferry quarters and now I'm kind of on the urge of collecting the new ATB rolls as they come out.

I did some searching online and discovered some rolls come straight from the us mint. My question is, is there any difference between getting a new roll from the bank/shop, rather than the mint or does it just look more interesting in the fancy roll packaging?

Hi JRocked and to the CCF.

Not sure what the answer is, but I would recommend you ask to have this moved to the Modern Coin Roll Hunting (CRH) forum. This is more suited for there.

Best way to answer that would be to look on ebay and see what the various packaging options are selling for.

Works on rolled coins and other government packaging like on mint and proof sets or GSA or Ike dollars and the like.

You'll even see listings for just the packaging minus the coins from people that broke them up and sold them / slabbed them individually. Even the empty boxes have value.

The mint wrapped rolls went straight from the minting process into their rolls. The bank wrapped rolls most likely left the mint in bags and then went through a rolling process after that.j

In theory, you might make the case that the coins in the mint wrapped rolls were handled a little less but in practice not sure it makes a difference. Some people also like the look of the mint wrapped rolls but they are going to be more expensive to collect over the long run as you can probably get bank wrapped rolls at face if you work at it a bit.

I think kenKat has it right ...

I have opened many hundreds of rolls, both bank wrapped and mint wrapped.
I feel the mint rolls have better grade coins. More so with the ATB Quarters
vs State Quarters.

Also if your planning on keeping the rolls, not breaking them, I think
in the future the mint rolls will sell better.
