The sole Kennedy a teller at my bank had for me today....

Silver-Kennedys-Still-Turning-Up-After-So-Many-Years

Appears to me to be uncirculated with original luster, albeit some spotty toning present.

I have scored 2 40% halves from tellers in the last few months.

it only hurts if you don't ask. I don't ask for certain years just buy what ever they have and go through them after I leave, then spend the non silver

Last year I was visiting my dad in my hometown, and for a lark went to his bank and asked if they had any Kennedy halves or dollar coins. The lady gave me about 15 halves, and also some gold-colored dollars. Then she said, "I also have some of those really big dollars!", to which I replied "You mean the Eisenhowers?" She didn't understand what I meant, but proceeded to produce about seven Ikes. I thanked her and we went home.

It wasn't until we got home that I took stock of my haul--out of the 15 halves, five were 40% silver, and two were 90% 1964s! Out of the Ikes, four were 40%. A nice day's work!

I did not have the luck of jpsned, but I ask for Kennedy halved too and out of the $10 roll it had 2 40%. So 10% silver made me happy

However, this was simply a case of my asking for halves & this just happened to be the only one she had.

The good fortune that jpsned had certainly covers years of my occasionally scoring one like this!

Yeah, it was just a stroke of dumb luck. And it's not like I go asking a lot. Maybe once every three months or so. The fates were with me that day.

But I am grateful that, in general, bank tellers know very little about coinage. Had she known, that lady certainly would have socked those coins away in her mattress.

Tellers rarely get any half or large dollar coins.
Rest in Peace

People, you have to learn to be more assertive. "Be sure to include your strange coins in my change," said with a smile.
