Note how the devices are reduced from the die movement that damaged those devices. Not a doubled die. No premium for this. It is commonly found and is a striking error. Not a die variety. It's showing how a Doubled Die adds overall size to devices, whereas MD subtracts overall size from devices. When in doubt about a normal sized device, you can usually compare it to another coin of the same year and denomination. Report this Post to the Staff
Dustin6 Pillar of the Community United States 3516 Posts	Posted 07/22/2016 11:05 pm The poor mans Doubled Die is disliked by many expert collectors. The poor mans DD is simply Die Deterioration. It is very common on cents from the 40's. Why it command such a premium is because there is so much hype about the 1955 DD, so people try to find a way they can get one themselves.Why experts dislike it is because it is not any sort of rare die variety. John wexler states that if you were to search a BU roll you would find many examples. There are many forms of worthless doubling. If you learn about them you can tell the difference quite easily.
