Yep, so I found this 196 20 cent that is aUNC- UNC, not a wavy, very unfortunately as it would make me 2000000 times richer if I could get one in that grade... So yea whats the value of UNC 1966 20 cent? Thx for any help.. :D

$45 - $50 in Maccas 15th. There's an UNC 1966 BIN on ebay for $29.95.

This one ( 310022109391) went for $2.48 + $4 Postage so the BIN price tag might be a tad ambitious.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

The BIN one is supposed to be UNC though where Bob's $2.48 1966 is aUNC.

If it came from Circulation, its NOT UNC... ;) I guess thats kinda obvious, but yeah, without seeing it, you'd have to probably lean more towards the aUNC Price..

So yea? (or yeah), the value in Macca's Guide is $50.00 at UNC aUNC would be between 40-60% of that. Seems simple.

Pics are too small to grade from really, could be EF to aUNC? Need bigger.

I can't, cause I don't have a camera... From the listing that you said above, mine should be aUNC to UNC.. Cause it has exactly the same luster as his, and I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have that many scratches as his..

It's certainly much nicer than what we usually pick up by noodling. Most of the 66's I get are no better than VG. In the last noodle I picked up a VF 1967 and thought I did pretty well, but not as good as yours by a long shot.
Have to wonder where it's been all these years. Maybe someone decided to spend a mint set?

Yep I'd put my guess on that, or maybe been sitting in somebody's jar for a long time..

There are still oldies, but goodies to be found. I have just started putting together another 20¢ and 50¢ set and these are some of the better oldies I have pulled from circulation in the last month. Not perfect but look quite good. [Amazing how much worse they look in a scan whem they are up on screen larger than life!] Now a question... Would anyone like to give me estimates of grading for these coins? I know it is probably hard from an uploaded scan that has to be <100kb but I am interested in getting some grading experience so I can eventually be confident to put grades on some of my coins. I would really appreciate some comments. Incidently reverses are same condition. thanks Jeff

I'm not good at grading decimals so I should probably shutup, but the first point of wear on young head QE2 coins is usually the middle crown jewels. Have a look under a strong magnification glass for wear in that spot. Light wear on the high points would give them an EF grade.
Most look circulated to some degree, except the 1971 50¢. Hard to tell from the scans but at that resolution it looks UNC.

'71 50¢ does have some tiny (hard to see) marks but negligible wear that I can tell. I was thinking aUNC possibly. However I have quite a few 2007 20¢ from security rolls that are genuinely uncirculated and many of them have more marking than that.
What does confuse me is that grading guides refer to wear, lustre and (sometimes) rim damage but never seem to mention scratches or nicks! I have looked in vain for a guide that has comparative pictures of the same type of coin(s) in different grades -that would be a big help.
And, if you look at the pictures, remember to click on them to blow them up to full size. That is as big as I could upload to forum without exceeding size limit.
