the photos are too small but my guess is that its a business strike and an early run off freshly polished dies. I would like to see better pics and get a good look at this coin.

Looks like it could be an impaired proof. Around 53 detail wise and semi-PL anyways.

Could you take pictures instead of scans? Scans do weird things to high-grade coins.

The reverse is almost wear-free but there is definite wear on the obverse, on Liberty's head, breast, and legs and at the center of the shield. The small marks and scratches in the field are not too distracting. The strike looks pretty solid but I don't think this is a proof.
Seems like AU-55 overall would be a solid grade. Beautiful coin!
