I'm having a very difficult time gathering information on the rarity and approximate value of this DDO. I found this coin last night in a box of mixed "buy by the pound" foreign coins. Any Brazil experts here? Edited by mahgobbi 07/30/2016 3:27 pm

Nice. I found a 10 peso coin. Similar but not as bold as your DDO. Will try to post it.

Hi! I have a similar doubled die coin but is 2000 One Cent - DDO. The 2000 10 cents coin is considered scarce here in Brazil because were introduced only 26.880.000 of standard coins into circulation. Like comparison; the year of higher production were introduced 610.176.000. It is difficult to estimate how many collectors have a DDO like this and how many common people have a like this without knowing that it is a rare coin. Many are lost in the streets. Finally,we have no estimates or information of how many doubled die coins were produced. The best thing to do at moment is to show the coin to the world and keeping it in a safe place. Good luck!

Very very nice ! I also loved it ! As there are a lot of Brazilian coins running around here in Colombia ( maybe the Colombian passion for the soccer is the reason ...) I will start searching ! Congratulations

I love this coin, and this kind of doubling, I just have 3 samples of it,
This is very hard to find, if you are mining, but We can see it with frequency in groups of error and varieties in Brazil,
Congratulations!

I just logged in for the first time in about three years. I took a long break from my coin collecting, but I feel the obsession coming back quickly. This is still one of my favorite coins because it was found in a "by the pound" lot of foreign coins.

Hi everyone! & Ola!!! I did a search here on the forum and this is the closest topic I could find for my question... My daughter just moved to Brazil and I am going to visit her for about 4 weeks. I don't normally collect foreign coins but wondered if there is anything specifically I should look for in my change. I'm American and know very little Portuguese and nothing about Brazilian coins so any pointers are welcome. And yes, I would know to keep a beautiful DDO as the one pictured in this forum... but is there anything else? Any silver in this coinage or certain dates? Is anyone looking for an everyday Brazilian coin? I would be happy to mail it to you once I return to the states.... I will be in the Campinas area. Obrigado!

Hi, mnknight77! I'm not an expert on Brazil's coinage, although I have quite a few from the 19th century. As far as I know, they have not used silver in any circulating coins since 1935. Take a while and look through Brazil's coins on Numista - https://en.numista.com/catalogue/in...azil&ct=coinAlso, for more attention to your quest, you should start a new topic in the world coins forum with a title such as "Traveling to Brazil - coin advice requested". More people will see it that way. Best wishes for a safe and productive visit with your daughter, and be sure to update us when you return!

Ha! This is the way Brasil should be spoken, roll you tongue. Fun coin for sure. Picked up a 2003 10 cent years ago with a Cud that makes the coin look better than normal. I'll post it tommorow. thanks for sharing mahgobbi.
