I'd also have to say this coin has been dipped and that's too bad. Awesome strike though, a strong AU, and hopefully in another 100 years it will retone!
Depending on how accurately the pictures reflect the true surface appearance of the coin, I'd say this goes AU 55 to MS 63. Nice coin, and the bust quarters are devilishly hard to find in this state with true original surfaces.
Hi Pony, A beautiful coin, at least high AU for detail. The softness at the front of Liberty's drapery is probably strike-related rather than wear. There does appear to be a little rub on Liberty's cheek. The eagle's talons look fully detailed with no obvious rub. The M in America looks incomplete; I wonder if that is diagnostic for a specific die variety?
The overall look is a bit bright which probably results from dipping at some point. There are a few ticks and small abrasions but nothing too serious and I don't see any hairlines from abrasive cleaning. I'd love to be able to tilt it under a light and closely inspect the luster!
If this were my coin I would invest the fee to have it graded by PCGS. Slabbed or not, it looks really nice.
