I have these 2 1878 Morgan dollars.

One is a strong 7/8TF VAM-37 MS62-63. The other one is a 7TF VAM-202 MS63-64.

I am trying to decide which one to leave in Dansco 7171, the other one will be sent in to be graded eventually.

Here are pics of both.

I am leaning towards sending the 7TF in and keeping the 7/8 in the Dansco.

Which one would you send in?

Thanks...Mont.

I'd say the first one. The second one looks like it's got more scratches and smudges.

The prices for these are all over the place. I know what I paid for them.

The second one is the 7TF, would this one be the more valuable one over the 7/8TF if graded?

If the coins have the same grade, the 7/8 Strong would have more value. If the 7tf R79 is one grade higher, they are going to sell close to the same amount as it will depend on the quality of the coins. If the 7tf R79 graded two points higher than the 7/8, then the 7tf R79 would have a big advantage in value. I sold a MS 62 7/8 strong about 6 months ago with nice luster and it sold for $220 in less than a week.

Personally, I like the second one better, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the better one to send in. Slider probably makes a good point, though. Though nothing is guaranteed, if you're confident in the grades, I would choose the second one.

Thanks guys. The 7/8 TF went into album. The 7TF will put aside to be sent in.
