I'm not convinced, Coffee. That's a pretty radical spread and has a substantial presentation on more than one angle. Note that the bottom of the ghost "0" comes onto the primary "0" (southwest) at an angle different than the primary "0," and the inside of the upper serif of the "2" is a has a different scope, telling me it's more than simple doubling. I could be wrong.

Good eye, catchakra. Would love to see more of the coin's lettering, mint mark, etc.

My honest opinion is that it is a form of doubled die. I think it is unconfirmed and extremely common. I see this on 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, Denver Mint cents. I havent been able to get pictures of the notches on the dates the way I would like to and some of the pictures shown do a nice job of conveying those notches. I see what appears to be notching at the lower, left base of the two (especially the first 2) and on the inside portion of the upper loop.

While it may or may not be a doubled die, I lean toward it being so. Machine Doubling is also visible but on the many I've seen, there are notches on the 2s and often on a nicely struck coin notches on LIBERTY.

I wouldnt toss it, although in all honesty, I've stopped saving them as I would say at least 50% of them have this anomaly.

Thanks,
Bill

Still not a bad find. Not sure if I've seen as many that pronounced though but a little of each.

I would keep the ones found in high grade, since these circulated zincs deteriorate so easily, high grade zincs can only go up in value and a doubled one at that too!

I had the impression that it was DDD, Deteriorated Die Doubling. My eyes aren't the best to judge, so don't quote me.

Its an example of Die Deterioration Doubling. I don't believe these are hub doubling in any form.
