Standing-Liberty-Quarter-Centennial-Coin-Mintage-Set Numismatic News - The Mint has set a mintage ceiling of 100,000 for the gold Standing Liberty quarter Centennial coin that will go on sale Sept. 8.

The coin is the second of three Centennial issues released in 2016 to commemorate the 1916 Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter and Walking Liberty half dollar.

Dealers' opinions on the gold quarter's mintage number are varied.

Pat Heller, owner of Liberty Coin Service in Lansing, Mich., and author of a weekly commentary about the bullion markets in Numismatic News' Friday e-newsletter, thought the number to be too high.

"It's going to be a struggle to sell that many," said Heller. "I don't think they will sell out quickly."

This is out of my league. It would have been nice to have a silver option approved for minting. Same goes for the dime and half.

Not sure what the price will be but, it would be more productive to see a silver.

Looks nice .. Any idea if it will be the size of a real quarter? I know the HH limit is 1 so maybe it will hang around longer than the Mercury. I really want one but it's probably going to be expensive!

Again it will be smaller than an actual quarter as only 1/4 oz gold

100K mintage, and household limit of one?
Good news to me.
The Gold Mercury dime sold out in a few hours, and I missed out.
Not that I'm bummed about it, because the Gold SLQ is the one I really want (of the three), and it would be nice if it's available for at least 24 hours....

Very nice looking coin ... Pretty sure I will pass on it.

I am with the others ... Wishing there would be a silver set.

A lot of Mercury dimes survive today in impeccable condition. The Mercury head design may be recycled for the Palladium bullion program, if there ever is such a program.

The Walking Liberty design, while attractive, is by now all too familiar. Same is true with the classic Buffalo nickel design.

The Standing Liberty silver quarters were notoriously poorly struck, and most have never seen a high grade example in person. Among the 3, the Standing Liberty is the most elegant design of the 3, which is saying something in this standout design group. The SL Quarter had an extremely short tenure as regular coinage.

So, I will be very glad to get one of these, which could be the only chance to get a fancy remake of this recycled (terrific) design, when hopefully the trend will move to innovation, from re-using the designs of yesteryear.

But that said, I hope they are able to fix the terrible finning problem that afflicted the Mercury reissues, caused by the thin planchet. Unfortunately, I do not have high hopes.

The mint should just change the gold "Eagle" program next year.

The 1/10 oz should be the Mercury dime design, the 1/4 oz should be the SLQ design, the 1/2 oz design should be the WLH, and the 1oz should stay the St Gaudens.

Of course I feel that would "cheapen" the heritage of the original designs but since the mint has already done that by going there this year . . . . .

I took the day off from work just to buy one.
The last time I did that was for the 2011 25th Anniv. ASE's.

This coin caught my interest, not a fan of the US Mint coin program, but I ordered one today.
