It looks like a gas valve or a valve of some sort.

Hondo, if you rotate and zoom in on the second image you can make out enough of the whited-out letters to get a clue.

Another clue... it IS a token, but not a phone token. It would be used by people who share the same interests as the Golden Bear and the Black Knight.

Hmmm. The only Golden Bear I know of is Jack Nicklaus, and the only Black Knight I know of is from Monty Python's Holy Grail.

You've got the Golden Bear correct. The Black Knight to whom I'm referring hails from a different continent than the "Spamalot" crew but is related (in a way) to the Bear.
