What do you say about the grade on this one? I love that in coin collecting you can have a reference to coin collecting from an item 153 years old.

What a great token!

I don't know about the grade -- at least XF, in my opinion.

I love it -- the store had lots of toys and fancy goods but, apparently, only one rare coin.

That's one fun token!

Not good at grading sooo...AU53? I like it. There are four for sale on the bay and yours looks a lot nicer.

my book on CWT & Store Cards lists it as rarity R-1 (very common), only token-issuing merchant of this town,
value VF-EF $30-$45, MS-63 $125-$175

IMHO, the subject token is at least AU-55. The scales on the fish are quite prominent. Although common, there is strong demand for this SMT or Single Merchant Town; especially so, given the subject matter and the pictorial.

Here's the other variety that Marshall issued ... Not as pretty as our OP's token, as it's been holed and counterstamped by one J.W. CAMPBELL, as yet unidentified. Note the 1862 date and the fisherman pictorial ...

Awesome cousin token to my post. In my research of this token I found that he had been issuing those at least as early as 19860
