A full scan of the front and the back of the note will be necessary to properly evaluate it.

Thes types of "errors" can be easily created by someone with minimal computer skills.

We are asking you for full image pictures of the front and back of the note to help you in our evaluatione.

If this is any help at all. When you look through the bill in the light the front lines up with the back over print perfectly

Appears to be a full offset transfer based on what I can see so far. Nice find!

It looks legit.

The offset transfer is one of the more common errors although you would think it would be fairly obvious for QC to catch.

It is caused when a sheet fails to load or does not load correctly or is torn or folded. The plate makes contact with the cloth surface of the press which the sheet would be lying on. The image is transferred onto the sheet. When the next sheet loads it picks up the image from the cloth on the opposite side. The image will fade as more sheets go through.

If you look closely at the image of Washington on this note you can see the weave of the cloth that the image was transferred onto.

Fakers will use the image from a genuine note which does not imitate the weave of the cloth.

Here's something similar for sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/142081...torid=229466

The prices for errors can vary a lot depending upon the condition of the note, and how many similar errors are out there, etc. It's certainly worth more than face value -- but not so much that your friend can quit his day job.

A $1 full offset transfer in "unc" condition should retail for around 125$ to 175$.
