I picked up a Seated Liberty dollar in about Very Fine condition. I looks good to me, but I have had to return a fake Seated Liberty dollar before.

My digital scale is off by a couple of hundredths of a gram, I think.

On my scale the coin weighs 26.63 grams. The weight should be 26.73. Is that within the tolerances or should I be concerned about the weight?

Thanks for your advice.

There are other ways to test besides weight.

Thickness
Magnet test
Ring test (i.e. Sound)
Compare coins to pictures of legitimate coins (i.e. Denticles, design, rim, etc) (this is a good one for Trade dollars)

Or you could just send it to PCGS or NGC

That is a good weight. I have a Seated dollar that I cracked out of a slab for my 7070 that is actually off a little further more than yours if I am remembering correctly.

Weight is fine. Consider keeping a cheap, circulated Morgan or Peace on hand for size and weight reference.
