If you're talking about the color, it looks like it's just getting oxidized. This is normal on copper coins. I'd still keep it, though- I (and many other members here) keep all 2009 coins except quarters due to low mintages.

This is not a copper coin. It is a plated zinc coin. The plating color was altered if were are talking about color.

Not fake, just turned color. It may have been dipped or something.

What I meant was that the copper plating had oxidized. Thanks for clarifying, though.

Those are the designer's initials- VDB for Victor David Brenner, who designed the Lincoln Cent in 1909. They were originally on the reverse, but midway through 1909 the initials were removed, and were replaced in their current position in 1918.
