I've tried searching for D varieties, but haven't found anything, so I thought I would let you guys educate me. On the attached photo, the D is located at different locations on the two coins. Is this normal, and if so, are they considered different varieties?

Thanks in Advance,
Raptor7s

back in 78, the mintmarks were hand-punched into the dies, therefore the mintmark could end up in many slightly different spots

Exactly.

Yhis occurred from the beginning of mintmarks in the 1830s until 1990 when they placed the mintmark in the master dies.
